more scenes from the hospital

the hospital stay was quite the ordeal since i have c-sections and i’m stuck there for 3 days! but the hospital was amazing and they gave us 5 star treatment the whole time. the kids loved coming every day to visit, and we even got a steak and lobster dinner the night before i left! the kids couldn’t wait to come see jake and hold him when he got all cleaned up. mia was beside herself with excitement to see “baby date!”jasmine got to stay one of the nights in the hospital with jake and i. she didn’t even care about not getting much sleep, and was excited to eat the yummy food (every meal was seriously restaurant quality!) we had a good time together. van the big bro was excited to hold the little guy and couldn’t believe that he could get all the sodas and popsicles he wanted from down the hall.  i came home to a welcome home sign, roses, and the house cleaned spotless! that little family of mine is the best:)

another year

another year

this was an exciting year for both kids. van is going to a new school, and jasmine is in HIGHSCHOOL!!
i can’t believe i have a child old enough for highschool. crazy.
anyways, van loved his first day and his teacher, and jasmine said her first day was better than she ever imagined. i think she’s going to love her highschool years.
also, jasmine has early morning seminary (6am!) which will be a challenge for the parents:/

since i’m up with jake all night, mr. sanders has been on morning kid duty- taking  jas to seminary and school, and walking van to the bus stop. what would i do without that man, he’s the best.

here’s my attempt at some newborn shots of the little dude (click on photos to enlarge)

happy birthday jasmine!

well it was the lucky 14 for jasmine this year (only because that’s her favorite number), and i was advised that her birthday poster (a tradition every year) needed to rhyme (i guess last year it didn’t).  so here we have the birthday girl this morning with her poster and her birthday surprise!so the surprise was this dollhouse that i got at the thrift store for 16$ and fixed up. she has always had an obsession with dollhouses and miniatures, so i was excited when i found it.

it didn’t start out so cute, so i decided to document the before and afters so we could see the difference. she was gone to utah for a month, so i worked on it about every spare second i had while she was gone, then hid it away at the neighbors house until today. it was totally fun for me, a perfect creative outlet.

so here we have the befores…

i found a bunch of old furniture on ebay that i fixed up and re-upholstered etc. i cleaned, sanded, and painted everything, then shingled the roof of the dollhouse…

but the funnest part was decorating the rooms…

i totally scored and found a lady on craig’s list that was selling a bunch of miniatures for way cheap. i got candlesticks, food for the kitchen, little soda cans etc. to put all over the house. it added the perfect touch.

we have the justin bieber wall in jasmine’s room (she’s a recent convert to the rest of the “beliebers”)

this room has its own little couch next to her book shelf to do unlimited amounts of reading, a piano,  games, and favorite posters/things on the walls. she said this is her favorite room:)

this room is a little stuffy, but i needed a room that was more conservative, ya know- variety right?

this room was way fun. i made the little shelf from pieces of balsa wood, and was excited that everything i made (pretty much throughout the house)  was from old scraps in my craft boxes.

who wouldn’t love a media room playing your favorite movies at any time? i would love this in my own house!

this was my favorite room to do, although she didn’t fully appreciate the retro-ness (i guess she’s a little too young for that).

so there you have it, the many many hours that i spent working on making it just right…totally worth it for my favorite first daughter.

i love you jas, happy birthday!

love that girl

love that girl

my sister catherine is my favorite person right now. she came all the way from austin to help me get ready for the baby. she said she would do anything that i needed in the 3 days that she would be here.

you should’ve seen her whipping around my house- cleaning, making freezer meals for after jake is born, taking the kids to the movies, cooking dinner, painting, making cookies, going to the craft store, and just hanging out with me. it was so nice to have my sis around.

i can’t believe i didn’t get many pictures while she was here, but i did catch a few before and afters of the awesome paint job she did in my bedroom! (she had already painted one wall when i remembered to get the camera out, but you get the idea)

thanks so much catherine!

my rockin' baby shower!

i just have 2 words…waffle bar. it was awesome! chocolate, lemon, and buttermilk waffles with yummy toppings and syrups, not to mention all the other breakfast food to go along with it. these girls totally outdid themselves, everything was absolutely perfect! thanks ladies!i got hooked up with tons of diapers and wipes and some way cute gifts! (check out the “diaper baby”) thanks everyone! and since i haven’t taken one bare belly picture of myself this whole pregnancy (i think i did like 10 with mia!), i had to get at least one (sorry mom:))
