we were all set to go to a cute little Christmas parade and lighting of the tree, but we somehow ended up at bass pro shop thanks to my very classy sister-in-law karen (see photo below) ha! jk- the parade got rained out, and it was actually really fun. the kids especially liked the hUgE fish in their ginormous tank swimming around.
other highlights: reindeer carousel, speedboats, remote control race cars, coloring, giant shark, and big stuffed bears (and other wildlife).
we went over to karen ans erik’s before we left, and karen made us some really good crock pot hot cocoa (she put in lots of chocolate and sweetened condensed milk!) to go with our cinnamon rolls. we had fun comparing the size of jake and scotlyn, and mia was obsessed with her umbrella all night
mia is pure happiness, spunk, and energy 24/7! she’s so bright, and funny, and loving, and i look forward to spending my days with her. we have fun singing songs, telling stories, running around, and laughing. she really is fun to hang out with.
i put together a little slide show with some pictures and clips that show off her cute personality and learning skillz (man this girl is smart!), and just some things we wanted to remember about her.
(if you’re not interested in seeing 14 minutes of straight mia- you can skip this:))
so here we are, 4th year in a row staying up til 3am on a school night to watch vampires and werewolves! that’s the rule though, she still has to go to school the next day. but this year she had to get up at 5:30 for seminary…which was totally worth it if you ask her.
it was mostly fun just hanging out with the girls, and i got a present from jake who decided to sleep until 8 the next morning! (thanks little man!)
in an effort to motivate the girls to work on their personal progress, the lovely kelly jones put on a “p” party that rocked the house! first they had to come wearing as many “p” items as they could (pink plaid pajama pants, etc.), and second- they could enter their name in a drawing for each value experience they completed for way cool prizes.
jasmine being the competitive soul that she is, completed 17 value experiences and one project- and walked away with a $15 itunes gift card, a super cute hat, the prize for the most p’s, a gift certificate to tutti frutti, and some great tasting cake pops that kelly made.
All the “P’s” were there…pizza, pop, chocolate covered pretzels, pink popcorn balls, and p shaped princess cookies. it was fun to watch how much fun the girls were having. i was proud of jas for working so hard to get everything done that she needed to for the night.
thanksgiving in austin this year- it was great! thanks catherine for the 5 star treatment (as always) and the never ending supply of your awesome cooking/baking!
the car ride wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be with the two little ones. i brought some things to keep mia busy, and of course we had the sweet set up that dad always provides with the video games and movies. add the treats and soda…and we were set.catherine’s house is the funnest ever with her media room, video game room, card table, air hockey, and toys- but the weather was beautiful, so the kids had a blast outside too.of course dinner was amazing and we ate leftovers for the rest of the day. jake laid low most of the time we were there, but did manage to show up in one picture. the great thing about this trip is that freddy’s sister robyn moved to austin a few months ago, and lives about 40 mins from my sister’s house! so we headed over on friday and got to see their gorgeous new home, then we all went out to eat at the oasis for dinner before driving back home.
the cutest thing ever was how much mia loved logan (robyn’s oldest). she didn’t want to be away from him for a second. he was so sweet with her and the cousins had a great time. it was way too quick of a trip, i hope to stay longer next time and enjoy those mons peeps that we love so much:)
this thanksgiving reminded me of how much i love my family.
